According to information from local historian Vladimir Bakunin, the stone Nativity Church was built in Kurmysh in 1774 with funds raised through voluntary donations. The church has three altars: the main cold altar dedicated to the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, and two warm chapels, the right one in honor of the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian and the left one in the name of All Saints.
