In the village of Krasny Vatras, formerly known as Monastyrsky or Kazenny Vatras, there is a parish church named after the Nativity of Christ, also called Christorozhdestvenskaya. It has chapels dedicated to the Finding of the Head of John the Baptist and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The church was originally wooden and built in the 17th century, then rebuilt in 1795. In the summer of 1918, during the kulak uprising, a cannon shot was fired at the church's bell tower, and the consequences of this strike were visible until the late 1980s, with a hole remaining in the bell tower. In 1830, a stone church was built, which was closed in 1930 but reopened in the late 1980s.
