The Church of the Nativity of Christ is being built two blocks away from the first city church, the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and is funded by donations from its parishioners. The new church significantly surpasses the existing church in both size and capacity and will become the main church of Kotovsk upon completion. The foundation was laid back in 2001, but to this day, the construction of the Church of the Nativity of Christ is still far from completion: the brick walls have only been raised to the first floor level, and no work has been done on the site since 2012. The parish continues to collect donations to resume construction.
