Many, driving along the federal highway M-5 near the village of Tomyshevo in the Novospassky district of the Ulyanovsk region, have surely noticed the church on top of the hill, which stands out with its elegant architecture and clear proportions.

This church, located not far from the village of Tomyshevo, belongs to the village of Koptievka and is registered in the register of historical and cultural monuments as the "Church in the Name of the Nativity of Christ" built in 1835, under state protection. Currently, there are no residential houses near the church, but at the beginning of the last century, the village of Koptievka almost merged with the village of Tomyshevo.

Judging by the date of its creation, it can be assumed that the church was erected in honor of the victory over Napoleon, when patriotic sentiments were on the rise in Russia. Unfortunately, at present, the church is in a neglected state.

In 2014, by order of the governor of the Ulyanovsk region S.I. Morozov, funds were allocated to the Committee of the Ulyanovsk region for cultural heritage to conduct a state historical and cultural examination regarding the identified cultural heritage object "Church in the Name of the Nativity of Christ" built in 1835.

At the moment, the Committee of the Ulyanovsk region for cultural heritage has sent requests to state archives concerning this church.
