In 1674, Alexey Meshcheryakov and Vladimir Kachesov founded the Kalinovskaya sloboda. At the beginning of the 17th century, a wooden church of the Nativity of Christ was built here. The 1719 census mentions the church servants: priest Kozma Samsonov Kornilovsky, deacon Philip Ivanov Kadilov, and sexton Kirill Ivanov Sherkunov.

In 1787, a new stone temple with three altars was built in Kalinovskaya sloboda: in honor of the Nativity of Christ, the Apostle John the Theologian, and the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. A one-story extension on the northern side was added later, in 1825, and consecrated on January 30, 1855. The church is surrounded by a stone fence with iron grilles.

In the new temple, according to data from 1788, there were two priests serving: Ivan Alexeyevich Dyukov and Afanasy Petrov Popov, as well as two deacons: Dmitry Ivanov Naberezhny and Ivan Lukoyanov Ustinov. In the early 19th century, priests Yefim Gerasimov Lyapustin, Andrey Ioanov Dyukov, Vasily Grigorievich Semenov, deacon Ioan Vasilyevich Merkuryev, and psalmist Mikhail Lyapustin served here.

In the main church of the sloboda, there were more than 3,000 parishioners, and by the beginning of the 19th century, their number had increased to over 4,000. It is known that in 1924, during the official robbery of the church, 33 pounds and 83 gold coins of silver were seized. Before its closure, services were not conducted. The church was closed in 1937 by the Renovationist organization, and its building was repurposed for grain storage, later becoming a club from the late 1960s.

According to the decree of the head of the Kamyshlov municipal district from 2005, the building of the old dilapidated club was transferred to the ownership of the Yekaterinburg Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church on April 3, 2006, for use as intended.

The church needs the construction of a bell tower, restoration of the main dome, and the main altar in honor of the Nativity of Christ, as well as the altars of John the Theologian and the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
