Church of the Nativity of Christ in Davydovo (Yaroslavl District)

Фото 1
The classic decor makes it easy to recognize the traditional compositional scheme. Along the longitudinal axis are sequentially located the summer church with a semicircular apse, the refectory, which was used as the winter church, and a three-tiered bell tower with a spire. The two-light cube of the summer church is adorned on the north and south sides with a four-column portico featuring a triangular pediment. Between the semicircular windows of the upper light and at the corners are short pilasters. Overall, the facades have a dry, flat finish and are characterized by numerous horizontal divisions. As is often the case with rural churches, the Nativity Church looks magnificent from a distance as part of the landscape, but loses its charm when viewed up close.
