This church began its history as a small Orthodox chapel in 1903, shortly before the fall of the Russian Empire and fourteen years before the difficult times that followed. It has endured many trials: destruction, oblivion, and desecration. In 1944, during the third year of the Great Patriotic War, it alone on the land of Berezovka regained life and returned to God. More than sixty years have passed since then, and it continues to shine in our land.

While there was no church in the village of Plotnikovo, parishioners visited the neighboring Asovo church. It was not easy to get there, as the distance was about 12 versts, and not everyone had transportation. Therefore, it was decided to build their own house of prayer. One of the documents states: "The church was built by the population of the villages of Plotnikovo and Verkhnie Kovali, consisting of 100 households. The church is wooden, one-story, 20 meters long and 10 meters wide."

Initially, it was a chapel. In January 1904, the Perm Spiritual Consistory issued a decree to transform it into a church, and on March 18, 1904, it was consecrated. According to the Clerical Report of the 2nd Deanery of the Kungur District for 1916, "The church was built by the efforts of the parishioners, transformed into a church by decree dated January 28, 1904. The building is wooden with a bell tower, on a stone foundation. The altar in honor of St. Great Martyr Procopius was consecrated on March 18, 1904. A priest and a psalmist are assigned to the church with a salary of 400 rubles a year from the treasury and 120 rubles from the parishioners. The income for 1916 amounted to 300 rubles and 20 kopecks. The land belonging to the church is 600 square fathoms."

Houses for the clergy were built in 1911 and became the property of the church. The houses were transferred to the priests and psalmists. The prosphora house is located next to the church. The houses for the clergy and the prosphora house need major repairs.

The distance from the church to the Consistory is 135 versts, to the local deanery in the village of Berezovka, 30 versts, to the district town of Kungur, 45 versts, and to the provincial city of Perm, 135 versts. The postal address is Tulumbasy of the Perm Railway. The nearest churches are located in Asovo, Taza, and Tyurikovo.

The church in Plotnikovo was closed in April 1936 and converted into a club. In 1944, during the Great Patriotic War, the villagers petitioned to return the church to the believers. After a meeting and the completion of documents, the church was handed over to the believers for conducting religious rites.

On July 10, 1944, the doors of the church reopened for parishioners. The Perm Diocese sent a new priest, Father N. Birilov, who dedicated many years to serving God.

Since then, the Procopius Church in Plotnikovo has continued its activities. Although the number of parishioners has decreased due to the depopulation of villages and the restoration of the Asovo church, the church remains a place where people come to baptize children and get married.
