The construction of the stone cold church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross began in 1675 with funds from the parish. It was built on the site of a wooden temple, the first mention of which dates back to the 16th century, according to records of miracles from 1515-1563 regarding the icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker from the Assumption Cathedral. The church was consecrated in 1688. The temple had two chapels: in the name of the Kazan Mother of God and the holy ones Onuphrius and Peter of Athos. In 1865, the latter chapel was moved from the summer church to the deacon's room of the warm temple. In 1735, a guild of Yaroslavl masters led by Alexei Soplyakov adorned the church with paintings funded by the merchants Vikulins, some of which have survived under the whitewash. The iconostasis of the central church was topped with a Crucifixion containing 50 relics of various saints. Between 1860 and 1865, the church of the Exaltation was significantly renovated: a large refectory was added to the western facade, new iconostases were made, and the wall paintings and a significant number of icons were updated. The warm church of Cosmas and Damian was built in 1722 with funds from the parishioners. Its walls and vaults were decorated with pictorial compositions created in 1843 by Yaroslavl master F.I. Telegin with funds from the merchants Krokhonyatkins. The revered icons of the summer church included the image of the Mother of God "Relieve My Sorrows," painted by Lieutenant Sergey Ivanov Nabrotsky in 1777, and the Bogolyubskaya Mother of God, created at the request of the parishioners in 1771. In the winter church, the icon of the Pechersk Mother of God was especially venerated, a copy of the miraculous image from the Yaroslavl Spassky Monastery, made at the request of Archpriest Alexei and church elder E.E. Mushnikov, as well as the icon "Crucifixion of Christ" with 46 faces of God's saints, containing a part of the Holy Cross and relics of saints. The church of the Exaltation also housed two reliquaries with parts of the Holy Sepulcher and relics, two silver crosses with a piece of stone from Mount Sinai, parts of the Cross and the Holy Sepulcher, as well as the Tomb of the Mother of God. In the sacristy, there was an antimins consecrated by Metropolitan Dmitry of Rostov. In 1903, the church of the Origin of the Honorable Wood of the Holy Cross was annexed to the Exaltation parish at the house of Mrs. A.I. Nelidova. The churches of the Exaltation parish were closed in 1930. The buildings have survived in altered form and are currently used by an enterprise.
