On May 20, 2012, on the 12th anniversary of the consecration of the Church of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin in the village of Ryshevo, a Divine Liturgy was held. It was led by the archpriest Igor Beloventsev, the dean of the Novgorod district, with the assistance of priest Alexey Boriskin. The service was accompanied by the singing of the choir of the Protection Cathedral from Veliky Novgorod, under the direction of regent Rimma Nezhnova. Students from the 'Teenager' Center also participated in the Liturgy.

Interestingly, the previous wooden church from the 17th century was an architectural monument and was built without the use of nails. The last rector of this church was Father Ioann Pokrovsky, who served there until 1937. After a denunciation claiming that he intentionally prolonged services to hinder the construction of communism, the church was closed, and the priest was arrested and killed. His wife, Alexandra, with two children, was forced to wander the surroundings. This story was reconstructed from archives by Father Ioann's granddaughter, Svetlana.

In 1961, there were plans to move the church from the village of Ryshevo to the Museum of Architecture in Vitoslavlitsy, but it burned down after being struck by lightning. The rain that followed extinguished the ashes and prevented the fire from spreading through the village. This event had a significant impact on the local residents, and it was decided to build a new church. The construction lasted ten years, and eventually, the church was erected on a high bank of the Msta River and consecrated in honor of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin, just like the previous one. The new brick church features simple architecture and has a bell tower on the western facade. It is affiliated with the Boris and Gleb Church in Plotniki.
