The village of Kupanskoe, also known as Usolie, is located on the Veksa River, 18 versts from the district town and 140 versts from the provincial center. In the early 17th century, it belonged to the Pereslavl Danilov Monastery, and in 1615, Tsar Mikhail Fyodorovich confirmed its ownership by the monastery. In 1764, after the confiscation of monastery lands, Usolie came under state property.

The history of the church in Usolie begins simultaneously with the history of the village itself. The inventory of 1610 mentions a church in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord and the priest's house. The land books of 1628-1629 refer to a wooden church of the Transfiguration of the Savior with a tent roof, a Deesis, royal doors, local icons, and a monastery building.

At the same time, across the Veksa River, there was another wooden church in the name of Boris and Gleb. In 1799, the village had two wooden churches: one in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord and the other of the holy martyrs Boris and Gleb. The latter was built in 1747 to replace the old one.

In 1810, a stone church was erected in place of these wooden churches, which still exists today. It has two altars: a cold one in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord and a warm chapel in honor of the holy martyrs Boris and Gleb. The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, icons, and liturgical books. The icons of Nicholas the Wonderworker and Saint George the Great Martyr, adorned with silver vestments, are especially venerated.

Church documents have been preserved intact, including copies of metric books since 1780 and confession lists since 1829. The church staff consists of a priest and a psalmist. Their salary amounts to 90 rubles from land, 220 rubles from services and needs, and 5 rubles from bread collection, totaling 315 rubles per year. The priest lives in the church house, while the psalmist lives in his own.

The church lands include 1 desyatina 592 sazhen of homestead land, 31 desyatinas 1036 sazhen of arable land, and 3 desyatinas 700 square sazhen of haymaking land. A plan and boundary book for the land are available. The peasants are obliged to cultivate the priest's land for free, but they do not fulfill this obligation. The parish consists of residents of the village of Usolie, where the clerical records list 332 men and 372 women, all Orthodox. The village also has a zemstvo public school.
