Фото 1
The Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located in the village of Vyristaykino in the Sengileevsky District of the Ulyanovsk Region. The village is situated on the banks of the Yelaurka River and was founded in the second half of the 18th century. According to legend, the name of the village comes from the combination of the Chuvash word "vyrys," meaning "Russian," and the name Taika. The first church building appeared here in 1900. It was a small wooden structure, clad with planks both inside and out. Notably, in 1906, the holy righteous John of Kronstadt served here. After the revolution, with the advent of Soviet power, the church was closed and looted, like many others at that time. The restoration of the church began only in 2003, when a brick chapel was added to the wooden building and the interior was restored.
