In the late 1750s, a church dedicated to the Intercession, an Orthodox holiday associated with the appearance of the Virgin Mary, was built in the Verkhnie Belozyorki settlement. The church was wooden, stood on a stone foundation, and had a bell tower. In 1922, silver and gilded items were removed from the church. On March 1, 1930, the bells were taken down and sent for recycling. In 1933, the church building was converted into a grain storage facility, and the remaining church items were dismantled. The priest and his family were arrested, convicted, and exiled to Solovki along with deacon I.K. Filatov.

On August 4, 2009, an Orthodox parish was registered in the village. To establish a new church, the parish was given the building of a former store, and the work was completed in 2011. In the same year, the church was consecrated in honor of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in memory of the old church.
