The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin is located in the village of Verkhnyaya Platovka in the Novosergievsky District of the Orenburg Region. This wooden church was built in 1893 and consecrated in 1896. In the late 1930s, the church was closed, but it reopened its doors to parishioners in 1944. It was one of the few churches that continued to operate at that time, attracting monks from closed or destroyed monasteries. They found shelter in houses located around the church. In 2016, Metropolitan of Orenburg and Saraktash, Benjamin, blessed the establishment of a monastic skete here. A house for the skete was acquired in May 2016, and cells and a home church were arranged in it.
A special shrine of the church is the Merciful Icon of the Mother of God, also known as "It is Truly Meet." This image was brought to Verkhnyaya Platovka in 1887 from Mount Athos. Despite its significant size, approximately one and a half by one and a half meters, it was successfully delivered here. In difficult times, people prayed before this icon, and it still brings comfort and support to believers who turn to the Mother of God. The residents of the district refused to transfer the icon to the regional center, and it remains in the church. The nuns of the monastic community recount the apparition of the Mother of God in this church during the years of persecution. Despite its age, the face of the Mother of God has not darkened, and the colors of the icon have retained their brightness without restoration.
The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin in Verkhnyaya Platovka is over 120 years old, and its unique architecture has survived to this day.
