There is information that a white-stone Intercession church once stood in Verkhnyaya Maza. Its construction was initiated in the mid-19th century by the wife of Denis Davydov. The Davydovs built a majestic temple in Verkhnyaya Maza, which was destroyed by the godless authorities in the 1930s. Now a cross is erected at this site.
