In the Yaroslavl region, there is a small village of Tolgobol, which cannot boast many attractions. The only pre-revolutionary monument here is the ancient Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin with a three-tiered bell tower. Founded in 1775, it is also known as the Bogoroditskaya Church.

The stone Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin was built on the site of an older wooden church. The funds for construction were raised by parishioners who received permission to erect a new building. The church is designed in the Baroque style and is one of the preserved examples of Orthodox architecture. Over time, a large Orthodox cemetery appeared next to the church, which, unfortunately, has only partially survived.

The history of the Intercession Church is similar to the fate of many other Orthodox churches. Before the revolution, it was the center of life for local residents, who sought to beautify it. In 1833, the church was rebuilt and expanded, and the number of parishioners grew until the events of 1917. With the advent of Soviet power, the church community faced persecution, and in 1930, the church was closed and taken from the believers. Only in our time, thanks to the efforts of private individuals, the church was returned for worship and is now in the process of restoration. Services are already being held in the church, but full completion of the repairs is still far off. However, photographs can trace the entire history of the church and show the latest changes.
