Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tatar

Фото 1
The church was built in 1905 with the funds and efforts of the parishioners. A bell tower and fence were constructed next to the temple, and an ornate iconostasis was installed inside. During the period of persecution against religion, the building was partially destroyed, with the bell tower suffering the most. The premises were used as a warehouse for the 'Red Partisan', which was located on the territory of the church. In 1993, thanks to the efforts of the parishioners, the church was handed over to the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese. By that time, it had been severely damaged both outside and inside. The iconostasis, bell tower, and fence were completely destroyed. The roof leaked, part of it was missing, there were no window frames or grilles, and heating was absent. The parishioners undertook a tremendous effort to restore the church.
