The village of Studentsy was founded in 1809 during the active settlement of the lands of the Orenburg province. By the mid-19th century, its population reached about one and a half thousand people. On March 27, 1861, the Military Administration of the Orenburg Cossack Army appealed to the Governor-General of the Orenburg and Samara provinces, Bezak, with a request: "The residents of the Studentsy detachment petition for permission to build a wooden church on a stone foundation at their own expense and to establish a church clergy consisting of a priest and a deacon, as in winter due to blizzards and cold, and in spring due to mud, they cannot timely perform Christian rites, which especially complicates matters for the elderly and the poor."

On September 9, 1861, the Bishop of Orenburg and Ural, Antoniy, informed the acting Governor-General Ladyzhensky about the permission to build a church in the Studentsy detachment: "The laying of the church was entrusted to the archpriest Belov." As a result, the church in Studentsy was built. Later, the villagers decided to expand it by adding two side chapels, for which wood was brought from Bashkiria. After the construction was completed, the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary stood on the highest point of the village, and its domes were visible from afar.

The church in Studentsy is one of the few that was not destroyed during the years of anti-religious power. However, it cannot be said that everything went smoothly. In the 1930s, activists of the new power tried to destroy it. All the villagers, young and old, stood up to defend it, declaring: "Shoot us, but we will not allow the church to be destroyed!" As a result, the attackers retreated. In 1936, the church was still taken away from the believers and used as a grain storage during the Great Patriotic War. The faithful tried to return the church, and they succeeded only in 1944.
