In the village of Shahovo, located in the Sudislavsky district of the Kostroma region, there is a rare church with three altars: St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, St. Dmitry of Rostov, and the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. For a long time, the church was closed and gradually fell into disrepair. For many years, mineral fertilizers were stored within its walls, the vapors of which nearly destroyed the church's frescoes and damaged the brickwork.

In 2002, Bishop Alexander of Kostroma and Galich blessed Father Vitaly to restore this church. The parishioners began to return the church to its former beauty. Residents actively participated in clean-up days, clearing the premises of debris and fertilizers. The walls were repaired, floors were laid, windows were installed, and heating stoves were set up. Thanks to the efforts of local residents and the support of entrepreneurs A.Yu. Chekanov and M.Yu. Smirnov, services resumed in the church a year later.
