Sadovka was founded in 1749 on the banks of the Alai and Maskayka rivers, not far from the road leading from Donguz to Petrovsk. Initially, state peasants lived here, mainly Mordvins, but later the majority of the population became Great Russians. In 1864, through the efforts of the parishioners, an Orthodox church was built. The construction of the wooden building with a bell tower lasted four years, and on May 20, 1868, the temple was consecrated. The main altar was dedicated to the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the chapel to the Beheading of John the Baptist. The clergy consisted of a priest, a deacon, and a psalmist, for whom church houses were built. Two parish schools operated at the church: a two-class men's school and a one-class women's school. After the revolution, Sadovka became the center of the village council. In 1929, with the onset of collectivization, a collective farm named after Stalin was organized, and the old schools were transformed into incomplete secondary schools. The Intercession Church was closed and subsequently destroyed.
