The Pokrovsky pogost, from which the village originated, was located on a small elevation at the source of the It river. It was part of the Kurak volost of the Romanovo-Borisoglebsky district. The village has long been abandoned, but the remains of the stone parish church still stand. The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, with chapels in honor of the Vladimir Mother of God and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, was built with the funds of parishioners in 1809. The church has preserved its bell tower and square base, as well as an overgrown cemetery.
