In the village of Bunkovo, until the 20th century, only the clergy of the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin lived. Now, only two residential houses remain in the village. The two-story wooden house of the priests and the building of the parish school have survived. The stone church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, with chapels of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and St. Demetrius of Thessalonica, was built in 1809 by Colonel of the Guard Dmitry Yefgrafovich Polivanov. The church is single-domed and includes a refectory, a square body, and an apse. A two-tiered bell tower adjoins the main structure from the west. The entrance to the church is also located on the west side. The layout features a large square that does not stand out externally. The facades are decorated with pilasters, and the cornices have not survived. The iconostasis has partially survived. Traces of painting in blue and red tones are visible on the walls of the church and altar.

In August 2012, an initiative group from Danilov restored the burial of Colonel Dmitry Yefgrafovich Polivanov at the village cemetery, one of the leaders of the Yaroslavl People's Militia of 1812. Little is known about his birth and life. He was presumably born in the 1760s. By the end of that century, he served in the Horse Guard, later known as the Horse Life Guards Regiment. According to "The History of the Life Guards Horse Regiment 1731-1848" by Annenkov I.V., on January 1, 1791, Dmitry Yefgrafovich was promoted from sergeant major to cornet. On December 12, 1796, he became a chamber adjutant to His Imperial Majesty for cavalry, and in the same year, he received the rank of captain. On October 23, 1798, he retired with the rank of colonel. It is likely that for his services, Polivanov received an estate in the Danilov district of Yaroslavl province. Near his estate, presumably in Bunkovo, he built a church in honor of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin in 1809.
