The Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God in the village of Pestretsovo is a unique structure. Built in 1892, it became the first church-school in Russia. The initiator of the construction was Bishop Jonahfan Rudnev of Yaroslavl and Rostov, who led the "Brotherhood of Saint Dimitri, Metropolitan of Rostov." The goal of the brotherhood was to bring back to the Church the sectarians and schismatics operating in the Yaroslavl diocese. The first financial support for the construction of the church was provided by K.P. Pobedonostsev, a prominent statesman and member of the brotherhood.

In 1939, the church-school was closed. From 1941, the building was used as a primary school, and from 1970, as a kindergarten and nursery; at that time, a brick extension was added to the wooden church. From 2004, the premises served as a village club. In 2008, the church became active again. On October 5, 2012, it marked 120 years since its consecration.
