On September 12, 1898, a monastery was founded, home to 14 monks, 6 specified novices, and 91 novices, totaling 111 people. The monastery was of the III class. The main church was built of brick and was one story high. According to the monastery's report for 1916, the church was established at the initiative of the abbess Evlampia, the treasurer nun Theognia, and other residents of the monastery, with the permission of the Diocesan authorities. Construction began according to the plan of collegiate assessor Arkadiy Iosifovich Savinich, blessed by Bishop Vladimir, funded by the labor of the residents and donations from benefactors from various cities of the empire. In this regard, decrees from the Orenburg Spiritual Consistory were issued on November 17, 1898, No. 11185, and on August 27, 1905, No. 11038. The estimate for the construction of the church was drawn up on August 17, 1895. The laying of the church took place on June 15, 1899, and due to a lack of funds, construction lasted about 10 years. In August 1905, the construction was completed, and the iconostasis was installed. Abbess Evlampia requested permission via telegram on September 28, 1907, to raise the crosses on the church on the 30th. On August 24, 1908, the new church at the Orsk Women's Monastery, dedicated to the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, was consecrated by Bishop Ioakim of Orenburg and Ural.

In 1925, the monastery was closed, the nuns were expelled, and they dispersed to nearby houses. The exact whereabouts of the nuns and Abbess Seraphima after their expulsion are unknown. In 1926, a cavalry unit was stationed on the monastery grounds. The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin fell into disrepair and was partially destroyed. Later, the area was occupied by a military communications unit, known in the city as 'Parus'. The church building was not used. In 1959, it was decided to convert the church into a club, for which a project was commissioned. Reconstruction of the building began on January 27, 1959. A club and library were established in it. The bell tower was destroyed, all the domes of the church were demolished, the drum of the main dome was blown up, and the openings were boarded up and plastered. A stage was arranged in the altar, and in the main nave, there were assembly and dance halls. The cells were used for the auxiliary services of the unit, barracks were built on the monastery grounds, and the entire area was covered with a network of powerful antennas. In 1991, by government decision, the confiscated monasteries and churches were returned to the Russian Orthodox Church. Two buildings of the former monastery and part of the territory were transferred to the Orsk diocese of the Orenburg eparchy. The local Orthodox organization 'Parish of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin' of the Orsk diocese was registered in 1999 in Orsk, Orenburg region. The first service in the church took place in 1995.
