Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin in Novoprokrovsk

The Intercession Church in the village of Novo-Pokrovskoye was built in 1892 with funds from local residents. This wooden building on a stone foundation, with a bell tower, is surrounded by a wooden fence. The cemetery is located three-quarters of a verst from the church and is enclosed by a fence. The temple has one altar and is dedicated to the Intercession of the Holy Virgin. Heating was provided from the basement, with warm air entering the church through special openings.

The church operated until 1936, after which it was closed and converted into a village club, which lasted until the 1980s. The building was then left unused.

In 1915, parishioners began constructing a new church made of red brick, but in 1916 the work stopped, and the building remained unfinished. Subsequently, it was used as storage for flax fiber, and during the war, it housed the Kalinin MTS. After the strengthening of the collective farms, the building was converted into mechanical workshops. The unfinished brick church, with modifications, has survived to this day.
