The village of Motovilovo is located in the Arzamas district. According to the order of the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage Protection of Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod Region dated April 24, 2000, No. 5-OD, the rural Intercession Church was recognized as an object of historical and cultural heritage. The church dates back to 1837. However, order No. 5-OD lost its validity on October 20, 2014, in accordance with order No. 159, as reported by the State Heritage Protection Office of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The "Address Calendar of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese" for 1904 states that the temple has a main altar dedicated to the Intercession of the Mother of God, as well as two chapels: the right one dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker and the left one dedicated to the martyr Paraskeva.
