The village of Khomutery Malaya is located by the Khomuterka River. Here stands a stone church built by the parishioners in 1823. The church has two altars: the main, cold one is dedicated to the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the warm side altar is dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker.

The church land includes 4 desyatinas of homestead land and 49 desyatinas of arable land. There are two priests, a deacon, and two psalmists serving in the parish.

Since 1897, two zemstvo schools have been operating in the village of Malaya Khomutera and the village of Alimkino.
