The church is located within the city limits of Kuvandyk, Orenburg region. The parish of the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary operates in a single-altar parish church dedicated to the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was consecrated on November 24, 1994, by Metropolitan Leonid of Orenburg and Buzuluk. The relics of the martyr Eustratius are laid under the altar of the church.

The parish of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary was founded in the 19th century. The first information about the construction of the church in the village of Pokrovskoye, now Kuvandyk, on Oktyabrskaya Street dates back to 1910-1913. This church was dismantled in the early 1930s.

After World War II, in 1947-1948, a new wooden church was built on Gorky Street with the blessing of Bishop Manuel. In July 1961, by the decision of the district council, the church was demolished, and a residential building was constructed in its place. Only a few icons were managed to be saved and transferred to Mednogorsk, to the village of Zarechny, to the church in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

On April 11, 1989, a religious community was registered by the Council for Religious Affairs, and a decision was made to build a new stone church on Gogol Street, 52, not far from the site of the first demolished church.

From 1988 to 1994, a prayer house in honor of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary operated.

On September 25, 1989, Archbishop Leonid of Orenburg and Buzuluk appointed Simeon Antipov as the rector.

On June 20, 1990, the Kuvandyk City Council of People's Deputies allocated a plot of land for the design of the church on Gogol Street.

In 1991, Archbishop Leonid consecrated the first stone for the construction of the new church.

The church was built by a team of builders from Armenia under the guidance of benefactor Vagram Abadjyan. It is constructed of natural stone and concrete and accommodates 550 people. The height of the building with the cross is 35 meters. The construction was funded by donations from believers and benefactors. Among the revered relics of the church are the Tabyn Icon of the Mother of God, icons of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, Blessed Xenia of St. Petersburg, Great Martyr Panteleimon, Great Martyr Catherine, Great Martyr Barbara, and other saints.
