The first church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin in the village of Korotyche was built in 1694 thanks to the efforts of the village owner and brigadier of the Sloboda Cossack regiments, Fyodor Osipovich Osipov. It was a small wooden structure consisting of three parts and topped with one dome. The bells were located on wooden pillars under a canopy. In 1782, the new owner, Collegiate Councillor Pyotr Andreevich Shcherbinin, built a wooden bell tower and significantly rebuilt the church, adding a stone foundation and a new linden iconostasis. A new house for the priest was built in the center of the village.
In the early 19th century, the church was in good condition. In 1811, it was described as a sturdy wooden church with one altar and four bells. However, after the death of the owner N.P. Shcherbinin in the 1810s, the church began to decline. The new owner, A.A. Shcherbinin, rarely visited the village, and the church lacked funds for maintenance. In 1830, the church land was increased to 33 desyatins, but this did not solve all the problems. By 1837, the condition of the church had deteriorated so much that the question of its closure was considered, but thanks to the efforts of parishioners and the rector Vasily Tolmachev, the church was preserved.
In the early 1840s, landowner Stepanida Pavlovna Bazilevskaya, who inherited the estate, began the construction of a new stone church. She did not live to see its completion but left the necessary funds. The church was consecrated in 1845. In the 1860s, the church became a non-parish church and was attached to the Vasilievskaya church in the village of Pesochin. In 1867, a zemstvo school opened in Korotyche, where the Law of God was taught by the priests of the Intercession church.
In 1886, with the arrival of the new priest Porfiry Dmitrievich Shokotov, the church transformed. New icons and church utensils were acquired, and a library was opened. In 1897, a stone fence and a new stone building for the priest were constructed. By 1906, the church owned 25 desyatins of land and had significant income.
After the October Revolution of 1917, the church went through difficult times. In 1922, the Bolshevik authorities confiscated property, and the church was closed. In 1932, it was converted into a village club. In 1941, the church reopened, but in 1949 it was closed again. In 1971, the church building was dismantled.
The revival of the church began in 1996 thanks to the efforts of local residents. In 1998, a parish assembly was created, and restoration work on the church began. In 2002, the construction of a new church started. In 2010, Archbishop Onufriy consecrated the altar of the new church and led the first Divine Liturgy. In 2020, the Mikhailo-Archangel baptismal church was consecrated on the territory of the Intercession church.
