The church was built in 1866 with funds from Prince Alexander Ivanovich Mustafa, a landowner from the village of Kochunovo. The street where the church is located is still called Knyazevaya, and the pond at the end of the street is known as Knyazev. According to legend, all the villagers brought eggs for the construction of the church, and the mortar was mixed with them. Perhaps that is why the building still stands today. The church occupies a large area and is visible from all sides; even in a semi-ruined state, it retains its beauty. The interior frescoes have survived, although the colors have noticeably faded. During the Soviet era, the temple was partially destroyed, and it housed a mill and a warehouse. The clerical record from 1915 states: 'The church is stone with the same fence. The bell tower is located in one of the five domes of the temple, strong and spacious. A watchman's lodge is arranged under the bell tower. The church land is suitable for cultivation but has depreciated due to the abundance of land among the peasants. The priest, deacon, and psalmist rent out the land; part of the land remains unoccupied due to the war.' The deacon's house, built in 1896, belongs to the church and the parish.
