It is officially believed that the temple was built in 1800. However, local residents pass down the story that its construction began as early as 1774 under the guidance of one of the local landowners. History has preserved the names of the landowners who actively participated in the construction of churches. The church in Karyan is associated with the Potapov-Miller landowners. When the church was half-built, the landowner was dissatisfied with the results, and the first church was dismantled. The current church we see today was erected according to a new design. Architecturally, it has the shape of a cross, to which a carved bell tower is attached. The church has two altars: the main altar is consecrated in honor of the icon of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, and the side altar is in honor of Saints John the Baptist and Nicholas the Wonderworker.

The church in Karyan has miraculously survived, as it housed a mechanical workshop for a long time. Today, the church is active, and its main relics are considered to be the icons of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin and Nicholas the Wonderworker.
