The village of Leninskoye, formerly known as "Irskaya Commune", was founded on the territory of the former estate of Princess Obolenskaya. In 1896, with the funds of a local merchant Moskalev, a stone church was built here in honor of the Protection of the Holy Virgin, replacing an old wooden church erected in the early 18th century. After the arrival of Soviet power, the church was closed, and in 1930, its building was repurposed as a rural House of Culture, which was later used as a grain storage and stable.

Today, the church is a small composition with an octagonal volume topped by a high dome and cross. On the eastern side, it has a five-sided altar apse, and on the western side, a refectory with a gable roof and narthex. The Church of the Protection of the Holy Virgin is active again, with regular services and ongoing construction work.
