Khorostyanka was founded in 1749 when dissenters from the village of the same name in the Voronezh province settled here, giving the new place its former name. In 1775, Vasily Samarin acquired lands in the Khorostyanka district from his cousin, Princess S.V. Beloselskaya. He began relocating serfs from his estates in the Tula, Tver, and Yaroslavl provinces to these new lands. In 1827, a wooden Intercession church was built in Khorostyanka, and in 1899, another wooden church in honor of St. Nicholas was established. In 1913, a stone Intercession church with an iron roof was constructed on the site of the old wooden church that had existed since 1827. During the Soviet era, the churches were closed and destroyed. In 2012, a new stone church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin was built in the village of Khorostyanka, consecrated on October 14, 2012, by Bishop Sophrony of Kinel and Bezenchuk. Currently, work on landscaping continues around the church, and interior decoration is underway.
