The building was erected in 1825 with funds from Major General Ivan Mikhailovich Bakeev. It was a stone church with a bell tower, which was dismantled in the 1930s.

The church had three altars: in honor of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, the Entry of the Holy Virgin into the Temple, and Saint Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, the Miracle Worker.

The church was closed in 1930. During the Soviet era, its premises housed a cafeteria and a cinema.
