The village of Yelani was founded in 1796 and was the property of the Urusov princes. In 1809, a stone Intercession church was built in the village with funds from Major General A.V. Urusov. Next to it was a one-story noble house of simple architecture, which now houses the village kindergarten.

In the 1920s, the church was closed. Initially, a club was set up in its building, and from the 1930s, it was used as a grain storage facility. Currently, the church is abandoned and partially destroyed.

After the revolution, when the church cellars were opened, it was discovered that they were connected by a tunnel to the cellars of the noble house. In these cellars, icons and many valuables were found.
