The village was founded around 1780 at the site of a post station on the postal route, near an oak grove, which gave the village its name. The village church was dedicated to the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, but the exact date of its construction is unknown. In 1868, a church parish school opened in the village, and before that, children were taught literacy by the deacon in the church watchman's house. In the 1930s, the church was closed and destroyed.

The parish in honor of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin was restored in 1997, and an old administrative building was allocated for the church.
