In 1772, the church burned down, and a new wooden church was built in its place, which remained unchanged until 1864. That year, it underwent major renovations, altering its original appearance: the wooden roof was replaced with an iron one, the windows were enlarged, and the foundation was reinforced. In 1875, new iconostases were installed in the chapels, and in 1891, the iconostasis in the main church was updated. In 1892, the bell tower was rebuilt according to a new plan. The renovations of the main church and bell tower were funded by Archbishop of Lithuania Jeronim, who was born in the village of Dmitrievy Gory. The village also had a church parish school, established and maintained with the funds of Archbishop Jeronim.

The last rector of the Protection Church was Priest Alexander Mikhailovich Sinadsky. In 1937, he was arrested by the staff of the Lyakhovsky NKVD, and on September 14, 1937, he was executed. Soon after, the Protection Church was destroyed.

In the late 20th century, a prayer house opened in the village. In 2010, the construction of a new, warm church began, which was completed in 2016.
