In 1821, Vasily Abramovich Plyamennikov, who held the position of court counselor, purchased a plot of land in the Orenburg province and founded the village of Berezniki, now known as Bereznyaki. He relocated his serf peasants from the Simbirsk province and the Buzuluk district of the Orenburg province there.

After the abolition of serfdom, according to the decision of the Samara provincial government, from June 6, 1861, the village of Berezniki became the center of the volost.

In 1863, the Plyamennikov family applied to the spiritual consistory for permission to build a stone church with a bell tower for 350 people. On December 15, 1868, the church was consecrated in honor of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was a single-altar church that became a filial of the church in the village of Koptazhevo. Services were held every fifth Sunday, on the second day of Easter, and on the day of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

After the death of the last representative of the Plyamennikov family in 1875, the Intercession Church of the village of Bereznyaki was assigned to the church of the village of Gorodetsky.

After the revolution, the church was dismantled.

In the 1990s, a parish in honor of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary reopened in the village of Bereznyaki. A prayer house was organized in the building of a former shop at the entrance to the village.
