The Nikolaev Church in the village of Anfimovo was built in 1871 from stone, as was its bell tower, thanks to the efforts of parishioners and the support of benefactors. The fence around the church is wooden but on stone pillars, and the cemetery is located within the church fence. The church has three altars: in honor of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, and St. Prince Alexander Nevsky. The church is located 170 versts from Kostroma and 53 versts from Chukhloma. The nearest churches are the Vvedenskaya and Georgievskaya in the village of Vvedenie-Kalikina, 6 versts away, the Rizopolozhenskaya in the settlement of Parfeneva in the Kologrivsky district, 8 versts away, and the Troitskaya near Golov, 9 versts away.

In the 17th century, the village was part of the Parfenevskaya settlement of the Galich district. In 1664, a church "of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the Kalikinskaya volost in the estate of Peter Bartenev in the village of Anfimovo" is mentioned as "newly arrived."

In April 1719, Priest Mikhail Ivanov from the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker wrote a petition for permission to build a new church, as the old one had become dilapidated and it was impossible to serve in it. In February 1723, an antimins was issued for the newly built Nikolaev Church for consecration. In 1863, this church is mentioned as wooden with a wooden bell tower, built in 1720, with an altar in honor of St. Nicholas, and it stood at least until 1871.
