On the site of the destroyed church dedicated to the Intercession of the Mother of God, a chapel was built. Originally, the church, founded in 1781, gave its name to the Pokrovskaya sloboda, accommodated up to 3000 people, and served as the center of religious and educational life of the settlement. In August 1931, it was blown up by the Bolsheviks.

On October 21, 2015, Bishop Pakhomiy of Pokrovsk and Nikolaev conducted the ceremony of laying the foundation for the new chapel. On May 14, 2016, he consecrated the dome and the cross, and on October 14, the consecration and opening of the church took place. The interior of the church features frescoes, and the surrounding area has been improved.

On October 15, 2017, Bishop Pakhomiy conducted the Rite of Placing the Antimension, a minor consecration, and the first Divine Liturgy in the new church.
