According to the land registry book of 1628, there was a church "in the name of St. George the Victorious" located near a chapel in "Kupetskaya Volost." The priest Arist Mironov, deacon Kirilko Kirilov, and sexton Fomka Ivanov served there. A more detailed description of the church is found in the "list from the land registry book of Prince Dolgorukov," which states that in 1628-1629, there was a wooden church of George with a refectory and a tent roof "on Kupetskoye Lake near the chapel." Inside were icons, including an image of George in gold with a silver crown, as well as various church books and utensils.

170 years later, according to the "Report" dated May 20, 1798, there was already a church of the "Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos" in "Kupetsky Pogost," located 20 versts from Shalsky Pogost. It likely replaced the previous church of St. George the Victorious and is later mentioned as a summer wooden Intercession church, which burned down from lightning on July 1, 1852.

In its place, a temporary wooden church with a bell tower was built in 1853, which had one altar "in the name of St. Great Martyr George." This church was likely dedicated to the memory of its more ancient predecessor and is mentioned in the "report of the Dean of the city of Pudozh" from 1854, which noted that there were no fences around the churches and cemeteries, and some required reconstruction.

After 22 years, a winter Intercession church was added to the wooden George church, with construction starting in 1869 and completed with consecration in 1876. It was made of stone, with a bell tower, and had two altars: "in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos" and "in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker." In the 1890 report, the "temporary" George church is no longer mentioned, indicating its dismantling.

The Intercession church is located in the northern part of the village of Burakovo-Pogost, on the shore of the lake, and serves as the architectural dominant of the settlement. It belongs to the category of four-part, multi-height churches with a horizontal longitudinal axis and includes a prayer room, a rectangular altar, a narthex with storerooms, and a vestibule with a bell tower.

The main room is covered with a hipped four-pitched roof with additional two-pitched roofs, while the altar and narthex have three-pitched roofs. The walls made of red brick are plastered and painted blue, adorned with pilasters and cornices. The entrance and windows of the first tier are decorated with arched portals with semicircular tops.

The Intercession church from the village of Burakovo-Pogost, built in the mid-19th century, is of interest as an example of provincial classicism and an important element of the architectural appearance of the settlement.
