The Mother of God church in the village of Uglskoe, built of stone along with a bell tower, was erected in 1820 thanks to the efforts of Grigory Vasilyevich Sabaneev and Nikolai Patrikeev. The fence around the church is wooden. The cemetery near the temple is surrounded by a moat and a wooden fence. The church has three altars: in honor of the Praise of the Mother of God, Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, and the Nativity of John the Baptist. There is also a chapel and a post near the main road from Kineshma to Galich. It is 84 versts to Kostroma and 20 versts to Kineshma. The nearest churches are: the Resurrection Church in the village of Tverdova, 2.5 versts away; the Nicholas Church in the settlement of Berezhki, 3.5 versts away; the Protection Church in Sendega, 4 versts away; the Nicholas Church in the village of Shiryayevo, 5 versts away; and the Kazan Church in the village of Znamenskoye, 6 versts away.

In the 17th century, the village was part of the Kostroma district according to administrative-territorial division, and according to ecclesiastical division, it belonged to the Pleskaya tenement. In 1655, a church "of the Praise of the Most Holy Mother of God in the Kuetska volost" is mentioned, located in the estate of the chamberlain Prince Grigory Kozlovsky in the village of Uglskoe.

In 1678, half of the village of Uglskoe belonged to the chamberlain Prince Grigory Vasilyevich Kozlovsky, where the church of the Praise of the Most Holy Mother of God was built on his land. The village also had the estate of his landowner and the estate of priest Maxim Ivanov. The other half of the village belonged to the boyar Prince Grigory Afanasyevich Kozlovsky.

In November 1737, Natalia Andreeva, the wife of ensign Mikhailov, wrote in a petition to the Synod that in the village of Uglskoe, at the church of the Praise of the Most Holy Mother of God, priest Ivan Yefimov served, who had passed away, and she requested to transfer the memory of the same tenement to priest Andrey Alekseev from the church of Nicholas the Wonderworker at the burial site of Berezhkov.

In the Synod, priest Andrey reported that he was 50 years old, his father Alexey Iosifov served as a priest in the church of Nicholas the Wonderworker at the burial site of Berezhkov and died about 40 years ago. Andrey performed the duties of a deacon until 1720, after which the parishioners elected him as a priest in place of his deceased father, and he was ordained by Bishop Georgy of Rostov and Yaroslavl. He served with priests Nikifor Alekseev and Ivan Martemyanov, but due to a small congregation, he experienced need and now wishes to leave the church.
