The village of Maryino, located on the banks of the Nerekhta River, is 19 versts from Kovrov and 60 versts from Vladimir. It was founded in the early 18th century when landowner Pavel Stepanovich Yazykov relocated several peasant families from his other estates, thus forming the village of Maryino, also known as Maritino.

In 1715, Yazykov built a church in the newly formed settlement in honor of the Praise of the Most Holy Theotokos. Permission for construction was obtained on August 14, 1714, and the consecration took place on October 6, 1715. The church was consecrated by priest Sil Alexeev from the village of Velikoye Blagoveshchenskoye. At Yazykov's request, deacon Andrey Yakovlev from the Nikolo-Pesyanskoye pogost was appointed as the priest, who, after passing a successful exam, was sent to Rostov for ordination.

The wooden church built by Yazykov lasted until the end of the 18th century. In 1791, with the blessing of Bishop Viktor and the efforts of the parishioners, the construction of a stone church with a bell tower began. In 1797, the warm chapel in honor of the prophet Elijah was consecrated, and in 1802, the construction of the cold church, consecrated in honor of the Praise of the Most Holy Theotokos, was completed. The church houses a revered icon of the Praise of the Most Holy Theotokos.

Church documents, including copies of metric books from 1803 and confession lists from 1829, are preserved intact. An inventory of church property compiled in 1877 is also kept in the church. The church includes a wooden chapel and a stone watchman's lodge, as well as the Blagoveshchensk church of the village of Krutovo.

The church staff includes a priest and a psalmist. Their annual salary is 440 rubles, of which 50 rubles comes from land, 30 rubles from bread collections from parishioners, and 360 rubles from sacramental fees. The clergy's houses are located on church land. The parish includes the village, the village of Makarova, and the hamlet of Senino, all located no more than 6 versts from the church. The parish has a total of 120 households, 454 men, and 483 women. Since 1879, a church-parish school, built by merchant Ivan Treumov, has been operating in the village.
