In the village of Avdotyino, as evidenced by the books of the Patriarchal Treasury, there used to be two churches: one was dedicated to Saint Basil of Caesarea, and the other to the holy and righteous Grand Prince Alexander Nevsky. The church in honor of Basil was built in 1691 thanks to the efforts of the village owner, the boyar Nikita Ivanovich Akinfov, a descendant of a figure from the Golden Horde named Akinf. When the church of Alexander Nevsky was first erected is unknown, but it was reconstructed in 1709, likely due to its dilapidation and inconvenience for worship. Both churches stood until the early 19th century. In 1803, Count Nikolai Alexandrovich Zubov laid the foundation for a new stone church. The construction was completed in 1807, after his death, thanks to the efforts of his wife, Natalia Alexandrovna Zubova. In the same year, the church was consecrated in honor of the holy martyrs Platon and Roman. The stone church stood for over 150 years, but in the 1930s, services ceased. The church was desecrated, the bells were thrown down and taken away, and the dome tilted.
