St. Peter and Paul Church in Ulyanovsk (Lost)

Фото 1
The St. Peter and Paul Church was originally built in the 1690s. The stone building in honor of the saints Peter and Paul in Podgorye, on the slope to the Volga River, was constructed from 1722 to 1729. In 1854, a new warm chapel was added in honor of the Assumption of the Mother of God, making the church a two-altar one. In 1859, a new two-tiered bell tower was built. Due to frequent landslides, the church was repaired multiple times, but by 1915 it was deemed emergency, and no further restoration was carried out. In 1930, the church was closed, and by early 1932, it was dismantled.
