In 1882, the Sobolevsky settlement became the center of the district, with the establishment of a parish and the formation of the village of Sobolevo. A wooden church was acquired and installed for the parish. However, it soon became cramped for all the parishioners, and the first priest, Pavel Nevzorov, conceived the idea of building a new stone church to make the village a cultural and spiritual center. In March 1898, the peasants appealed to Bishop Alexy of Vyatka and Slobodsky with a request to build a stone church. At a meeting of the parishioners, it was decided to start construction. That same year, a message was sent to the Vyatka Spiritual Consistory that the construction would be financed by the local church trusteeship.

Work began in 1900 under the guidance of contractor Dmitry Vonifatevich Suslov from the Vyatka province. By 1906, the church was ready, but for unknown reasons, its consecration took place only on October 13, 1909. The church was consecrated in honor of the holy apostles Peter and Paul. However, the sound of its bells calling to prayer was short-lived. In 1940, by the decision of the Presidium of the Sanchursky RIK, the church was closed.

Despite this, the Sobolevsky church has preserved its architectural appearance and still welcomes rare visitors in the center of the deserted village. It remains alive, and every June, prayers are heard here. Since 2007, a procession has been held in the Sanchursky district in honor of Archimandrite Alexander Urodov, the last rector of the church. After its closure, Father Alexander secretly continued to serve for 26 years until his death on August 27, 1961. Enduring exile and deprivation, he remained faithful to the service of the Russian Orthodox Church. On September 19, 2001, the relics of the venerable confessor Alexander were transferred to the Nativity of the Mother of God Sanaksar Men's Monastery.
