The residents of Porechye are known for their piety and care for the beauty of the church, which is an important part of their lives and a national monument. Therefore, it is impossible to overlook the local church buildings when describing Porechye. The summer church, dedicated to the apostles Peter and Paul with chapels of the Kazan Mother of God and Saint Nicholas, although similar to many others, impresses with its richness, size, and elegance of both exterior and interior decoration. The golden eight-pointed crosses on the domes shine like fire, and the spheres on which they are placed are also covered in gold. Along the upper cornice of the temple runs a ribbon depicting the Lord's feasts, executed in magnificent Greek style. Upon entering the church, you will immediately notice a chronicle on the right wall of the narthex, left for future generations of Porechye: 'In 1823, on August 24, at 8 o'clock in the afternoon, this temple of the holy first-called apostles Peter and Paul was honored by a visit from His Majesty the Most Pious Sovereign Emperor Alexander I.' The Emperor paid special attention to the icon of the Resurrection of Christ and highly appreciated it. The significance of local painting is emphasized by its subject: passing through the church, from the doors of the narthex to the altar wall, you follow the entire history of the Kingdom of God, from biblical stories of the creation of the world to allegorical depictions of the New Testament Seer about the ultimate fate of the universe.
