The Church of Archangel Michael in the village of Petrovsk was founded by the decree of the Holy Synod on July 8, 1854. In October of the same year, the construction of the church was consecrated, and building works began, financed by parishioners. The church was consecrated on November 21, 1876, and was named the Mikhailo-Archangel Church of the Chelyabinsk District of the Orenburg Diocese. The church, which had three altars and sufficient utensils, had two priests and two psalmists serving from 1883, who received salaries. From March 1914, the elder was I.I. Shumakov, a peasant. At that time, the list of clergy included six people. The stone building of the church with a fence stood until 1900, when a fire occurred in February.

On January 23, 1904, the Orenburg Spiritual Consistory allowed the expansion of the church, and on May 18, 1904, a new altar and bell tower were laid. After the completion of the stone masonry, the church had 28 windows. The land near the church was not registered. The rector's house, built in 1904, was transferred to the church. The house of the second priest was purchased from priest Skopin in 1900, and houses for the psalmists were also acquired. The church maintained "income and expense books" under the supervision of the Consistory. A special mixture, to which believers added milk and eggs with prayers, gave strength to the walls. A two-class church school operated at the church.

In 1929, the church ceased to exist, and its premises housed a grain storage facility and a machinery repair workshop. By the decree of the Legislative Assembly of the Chelyabinsk Region on January 28, 1999, the Petrovsk Church was declared a protected cultural heritage monument and was named after Peter and Paul. Documents from the State Scientific and Production Center for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of the Chelyabinsk Region indicate that the church was renamed at the request of the believers.

During the years of Soviet power, the church was partially destroyed. The restoration of the building was undertaken by the "Ariant" firm, and patrons A. Aristov and Yu. Antipov supported the efforts. The restoration work was blessed by Metropolitan Ioann of Chelyabinsk and Zlatoust on October 23, 2001. A reconstruction project for the church was approved.

In March 2011, new bells cast at the Kamensk-Uralsky plant were installed. The bell ensemble includes the main bell and seven smaller ones. In the spring of the same year, cosmetic repairs were made to the church, and a garden appeared. On July 12, 2011, the consecration of the Church of Peter and Paul took place, attended by Metropolitan Ioann and clergy from the Chelyabinsk region.
