The wooden single-altar church, dedicated to the holy apostles Peter and Paul, was built between 1890 and 1892 according to the design of architect P.E. Anikin. Its history is closely intertwined with the history of the Raifa Monastery. The initiator of the construction and organization of the parish was the abbot of the Raifa Monastery, Hieromonk Veniamin. It was the Raifa Monastery that provided the majority of the funds for the construction and donated the iconostasis for the church. The fate of the church also involved well-known Kazan merchants and entrepreneurs, such as P.A. Pribytkov and A.M. Khokhryakov, who donated 1650 rubles, Atlashkin, who gifted the bells, and the Sedmiozersky Monastery, which acquired the royal gates. In the early 1930s, the church was closed, but during the Great Patriotic War, it reopened and has not been closed since. Until the late 1980s, it remained the center of Orthodox life in the Zelenodolsk district. Currently, the rector of the church is Archimandrite Vsevolod Zakharov from the Raifa Monastery, which continues to connect the church with this ancient monastery.

The church is well-preserved and is executed in an eclectic style with elements of folk architecture. The composition is based on a large square base, on which a wide octagon with a large dome is situated. The edges of the octagon are raised in the form of pediments, adorned with decorative rosettes. A small cupola with a simple cross crowns the church. The apse is rectangular in shape, with a large icon in a wooden frame placed on the eastern side. A small refectory adjoins the lower tier of the lost bell tower. The western entrance is decorated with a porch supported by two slender pillars, holding a gabled roof with an icon in the tympanum of the pediment. On the axis of the western entrance, there are three-part gates with arched openings.
