To the west of Chirikeevo lies one of the most interesting places in the Main District, the area of Edelyevo. In 1653, here, on the banks of the river Jerusalemka, later renamed Russalimka, lands were allocated to seven Mordvin murzas who were accepted into the service of the sovereign.

Over time, most of these lands remained with one of the murzas, Prince A.P. Edelyev, who founded a village here. His son, I.A. Edelyev, built a wooden church in the village in honor of the apostles Peter and Paul between 1729 and 1737, and the village became known as Petropavlovskoye, also known as Edelyevo. Later, among the owners of the village were noble families such as Teryaevs, Ushakovs, Winter, Gershau, Bervi, and Karch-Karchevskys.

In 1895, a new stone church was built on the site of the old wooden one, designed by the talented Simbirsk architect V.L. Ivanovsky. This church is considered one of his best works.

In 1922, according to local historian Vladimir Vorobyov, a collective farm association called 'Perfection' was established in the village. After several decades of existence, the collective farm fell into decline, and the village began to die out until it completely disappeared.

Now, on the deserted plain, only the solitary Petropavlovsky temple and the remnants of an ancient park remain, and one can only meet the residents of the former Edelyevo at the village cemetery.
