Church of St. Panteleimon the Healer in Tinaki

Фото 1
The Church of St. Panteleimon the Healer was built on the territory of the now-abandoned resort "Tinaki-1" even before the arrival of Soviet power. The administration of the Astrakhan region recognized the church as a monument of history and culture, including it in the complex of objects of historical and cultural heritage of regional significance "Tinak Mud Treatment Facility of the Public Charity" from the late 19th century, 1900-1913.

According to old newspapers, the Tinak mud treatment facility was located 12 versts from Astrakhan, on the right bank of the Volga, 5 versts from the steamboat landing "Kalmytsky Bazaar." It was situated by the Tinak salt lake, where there was a park connected by an alley to another park by a freshwater lake. On the shore of the salt lake, there were bathing establishments with various facilities, and in the park, wooden buildings with rooms, an office of the treatment facility, a reception for doctors with a pharmacy, a buffet, a dining room, a casino, billiards, a stage for an orchestra that played daily throughout the season, and more. The buildings had 160 separate rooms, costing from 75 kopecks to 3 rubles per day. An additional bed with a mattress or mattress pad cost 25 kopecks per day. Besides the separate rooms, there were two common barracks with 40 beds for men and women, with a charge of 40 kopecks per day for a bed with a mattress pad. However, sick individuals who could not live in a common space with others were not accepted into the common barrack. There was a church at the resort where services were held.

At the beginning of the last century, one of the Astrakhan merchant philanthropists, possibly merchant Sapozhnikov or one of the Gubin brothers, donated funds for the construction of the church on the resort's territory. The wooden church harmoniously blended into the ensemble of the resort's buildings among other examples of wooden architecture. During the Soviet era, the church was closed, and its premises were used as a library and a club for vacationers, where a piano stood and dances were held.

The resort has not been operational for many years; its territory, once known as a "union health resort," is in ruins, and most of the buildings have been destroyed by time. The same fate likely awaited the church, which gradually fell into disrepair. However, a few years ago, its restoration began. The building now belongs to the parish of the Theodorovskaya Icon of the Mother of God, located in the village of ACCK. Infrequent services in the church are conducted by hieromonk Pavel from the Pokrovsky Cathedral in Astrakhan.
